Weekly Forecast 01/14/18 - 01/20/18
Even before I started shuffling the cards, I could feel this week was going to be about structure and introspection.
So I wasn't all that surprised to see the cards that came up for us.
The High Priestess asks us to go within, to trust our intuition and our inner knowing. We all have it and the more you call on it, the more you follow it, the stronger it is, the less you use it, the less you call on it, the more it just sounds like a whisper...it's there, but you can hardly hear it.
So this week, whether you're seasoned in the art of using your intuition or not, make sure you're listening a little closer. Make sure that you're taking the time to acknowledge it, to hear what it has to say, to take a moment and be grateful that your intuition is part of your life (whether you use it actively or not). There are times where our intuition and our logic line up, there are times they might be opposed, and we can choose which to listen to. This week is all about feeling out your feelings, it's a step beyond last week, where we started to identify things that didn't work for us, structures that no longer fit into our lives. The High Priestess tells you, you already KNOW within you what should stay and what can be torn down. You just need to stop and listen. You just need to utilize the knowledge you have and implement it into your life. That isn't always an easy task, forming new habits or beliefs is something that can be REALLY tricky, but as long as you're working on it, every day, then it will become part of your life. They say it takes 30 days to establish a routine, so chip away at it, be mindful and watch as things begin to transform.
The Five of Pentacles, *sigh*...so, if you've been reading my posts on Instagram lately, you'll notice that I've been talking a lot about choice and how there is more in our lives that require making choices than perhaps we realize. The Five of Pentacles speaks of scarcity, the idea that we don't have enough, that things are hard and there's no other way around it. Of course, there are absolutely times that is true, there are times it has to be hard because that's just part of it. We need the contrast to appreciate the times it's easy, to learn, to figure out better ways to do things in our lives. In the traditional deck, the Five of Pentacles depicts two men in tatter clothes wandering through the snow in front of a church. They are so focused on how miserable they feel, on how hard things are, on the bitterness, the cold, that they don't even notice the church. They don't see there's a light on, that it's warm inside. That it could be a shelter for the night. If you're so close to the situation, if it consumes your thoughts, if you're worrying, if you're constantly thinking about how difficult things are, if you're panicking about how to fix it, it's harder to see the options, it's harder to see the big picture, it's harder to see the things that are RIGHT in front of us. The things that could ease our minds for a while, that could provide us new perspective, that could spark the inspiration or idea how to fix the situation. Sometimes we just need to let the situation play out, we need to take it one day at a time, worry less (because where does the worry get you?), breathe, try as best we can to feel ok, or, at the very least, less shitty than what we feel in the moment. There is always an option, there is always a choice, get out of your stress and anxiety and worry for just a moment to take inventory, to try and gain new perspective so that you can move forward, so that you can see the things that's been right in front of you. You can't see anything if you're walking with your head down, so lift it up, look around. You have the tools to make things work better for you, you have the tools to create new opportunities, you have the tools to walk away from situations that aren't serving your highest good. Operating from a place of scarcity is NOT the only option.
When we stop to take inventory of things, when we ask ourselves if this is working, or that is working, do we need this, can we live without that...we are able to get clear, we are able to clear out things that were cluttering our lives, our minds, our closets. We're able to then make space for new things, things that will better serve our purpose. New thoughts, new beliefs, new things to assist us on our path. Spring cleaning isn't just for Spring, you can do this whenever you feel like it's necessary. The New Moon in Capricorn is coming up tomorrow evening (for those of us in the Northern Hemisphere, that is), there is no better time than now to revitalize your structures, habits, and beliefs. Capricorn loves routine, structure, hard work...after all, Saturn is their ruling planet. It might be boring, it might be tedious to reconfigure your structure, or take a look at your foundation but i PROMISE you, it's necessary. I just gave this analogy to a friend in a reading recently...imagine you have a blue print for your new house, you can see where things go, you can imagine how beautiful it will look once it's done. But you can't just start building, you need to take it one step at a time in order to create something that is going to withstand the test of time, weather any storms, and remain intact. If you just throw some 2 x 4's down, throw down some concrete in attempt to get it done faster because you're BORED with the minutia...well, my friend, your house won't last very long, and it's going to come tumbling down on top of you. So! The Seven of Pentacles, urges us to stop, to DEAL with the minutia, to take things one step at a time so that we can build something that is going to LAST, so that we take care of any cracks in the foundation, to remodel things that we don't really like anymore. If you hate the whole house, take it down and start from scratch. A clean slate is an AMAZING opportunity, so if that's what you're feeling like you need to do, go ahead and do it! If you just want to look things over, make repairs, do some painting and sprucing, do that too! Just make sure you're taking the time this week to see where things need repairs and what you might like to replace or remodel.
I know that it can sometimes feel like you're meeting resistance at every turn, like no matter what you do there is something there that stops you or thwarts your plan. It's a shitty feeling and a shitty experience BUT when we feel like there's nothing but obstacles in our path, this is the point at which we will be facing many lessons, we will be going through the transformation from who we are right at that moment to who we will be once we come out the other side.
Sometimes we have to fight, sometimes we have to push through, sometimes there is nothing but resistance, nothing but obstacles, but if you believe in the growth, if you believe in the cause, the fight is worth fighting. And this DOESN'T mean you need to go out swinging or that you have to argue at every chance you get, that's not what it's about AT ALL. In this case, fighting really means PERSEVERANCE. It means doing what YOU need to do, taking care of YOURSELF, not concerning yourself with other people, making sure that you're doing your thing. It means not derailing at the first sign of trouble, it means not giving up just because it's difficult. This is a test of sorts, the Seven of Wands, asks us a simple question: Are you ready?
Are we ready to put the work in to accomplish what we need? Are we ready to put our needs first to ensure that we are taking care of what we need to? Are we ready to level up? Are we ready to leave behind the things that aren't working for us?
For some of us, the answer is no, and that's ok! That just means there is more for you to discover where you're at before you move forward. So don't feel discouraged if the answer is no. Instead, be glad that you have more time to prepare, more time to gather up the perspective and the knowledge and the focus you need to move on. If the answer is yes, you probably know already what you need to do, you've probably considered some of what you might come up against and you're ok with that.
This week really sets us up for something amazing by asking us to take a look at what we've got started, what we want to keep, what we want to get rid of or rebuild. Maintenance is a CRUCIAL step in our journey this year. I know it's not glamorous, it's not super fun, but it's necessary if you want to ensure a stable foundation, it's also a HUGE accomplishment and step forwards because you are paving the way, creating the space for the things that WILL serve you, that will help to propel you forwards the rest of this year.
